Filipino bassoonist Vince Ocampo is an orchestral musician and music educator. Growing up in Alfonso, Cavite, Philippines, he first found his musical inspiration from the local wind and brass band marching in the streets of Alfonso during the San Juan Nepumuceno feast day. Vince decided to join the band and there learned his first musical instrument, the tenor saxophone. In one of the bands’ formal concerts, Vince saw the bassoon for the first time and became inspired to learn to play the instrument. He then decided to take up music as a career path and pursued a music performance degree in bassoon in college. He has inspired many Filipino musicians to travel abroad as an international students to further their musical studies.

Teachers he studied with at these festivals include Nancy Goeres, Per Hannevold, Drew Pattison, Kristin Wolfe Jensen, and Ole Kristian Dahl.
As a soloist, Vince has won several concerto competitions. Vince performed Gioachino Rossini’s Concerto for Bassoon in Bb with the Longy Conservatory Orchestra under the direction of Jullian Pellicano, and Bernhard Crusell’s Concertino for Bassoon in Bb with the Texas Tech University Symphony Orchestra under the direction of David Becker.
